Who Are We

METU Aerospace Students Society is a student society founded at METU (Middle East Technical University) in order to show activity in amateur, scientific and industrial fields of aerospace. The society shows activity within Aerospace Engineering Department of METU, with the approval of Department Chair.

The major objectives of METU Aerospace Students Society, which are specified in the constitution of the society as well, are as follows:

• To introduce aerospace sciences to the students of both university and department; to provide opportunities for them in order to learn more about the aerospace topics they are interested in as well as to take part in the related activities.
• To stay in touch with the associations, institutions and student societies working on aerospace in Turkey; to take part in organizations on aerospace on national stage.
• To take part in organizations on aerospace on international stage; to represent Middle East Technical University and Turkey in such organizations with our best.
• To make attempts in order to have organizations, projects and workshops on aerospace in Turkey by performing common organizations with the aerospace student societies that we are in relationship in international level.

The most important aerospace student society that METU Aerospace Students Society is in relationship in international level is EUROAVIA. EUROAVIA (European Association of Aerospace Students) is founded in 1959 and present in 31 cities in 17 countries, with a total of about 1200 members. It aims to stimulate contacts between university students and the aerospace industry, and to offer opportunities of acquaintance and exchange among students from different countries. Moreover, there are some opportunities that EUROAVIA members can benefit from, such as, internship opportunities in aerospace industry, to visit various Eupean cities and learn their cultures with “Fly-in” activities, to get more information and experience before joining into aerospace industry with “Workshop”s, to reach more information about new events and developments in aerospace sciences with “Symposium”s and “Seminar”s on aerospace. METU Aerospace Students Society is a member of EUROAVIA since October, 2002 and it is known as EUROAVIA Ankara in international level. What’s more, it is appreciated by EUROAVIA with its ambitious rapprochement and activeness.
